DRAGON'S LAIR
Silhouette Nocturne #85
Publication Date: February 2009
ISBN: 0-373-61805-0

An intense, even dark atmosphere hovers around this story, darkening the shadows evn more than the brooding castles and the magical subterfuge at work. There is a real feeling of menace that threatens this couple and their own mistrust of each other is palpable. You get the feeling that as dangerous as Braeden's more malevolent kin may be, the real struggle is against the darkness in the hearts of this couple. Their pain and their attempts to rebuild their relationship are very real: you want to see them back together and you want to see their love rekindled. Their dance of attraction and distrust around each other leaves you breathless with hope. This is definitely one Nocturne well worth re-reading!

~ Renee C. Mulhare, Amazon

This is an excellent romantic fantasy starring a wonderful lead couple caught in a great premise. They each feel their relationship suffers from a weird sexual bi-polar syndrome as they bounce from euphoric passion to abject loathing and back in an instant; neither is cognizant that their sudden uncontrollable desire seems to occur whenever they begin to translate the tome. Lacking restraint makes for a fun tale that sub-genre fans will relish as the powerful battle to control the Druidic spell book starts with a need for the lead couple to find a way to restrict their extremes so they can work as a team.

It's been a while since I've read a Nocturne, and when I end up with a good one I always ask myself why I wait so long to read another. Never really get a good answer to that question other than the usual too many books, too little time. I'm determined to remedy that as far as these Nocturnes go, though. I've had great luck with them in getting good stories and terrific characters, and Dragon's Lair is right up there with the best.

Medieval diva Denise Lynn turns her considerable storytelling talents toward the contemporary arena with a spicy, captivating paranormal. Silhouette Nocturne's DRAGON'S LAIR boasts a real, appealing romantic couple reunited against a nasty immortal bent on destroying the pair and a storyline as magical as the hero's powers.

Ms. Lynn keeps the sexual tension high while focusing almost exclusively on the alpha, incredibly sexy wizard Braeden Drake (whose sometimes overwhelming arrogance might be tempered with a well-placed baseball bat) and his feisty wife, Alexia. While these two strong personalities clash with each other, their obvious attraction for each other blazes across the pages of DRAGON'S LAIR.

Some startling surprises, along with a number of clever 'gimmicks', keeps the highly sensual DRAGON'S LAIR moving quickly while Alexia and Braeden scramble for a happily-ever-after. Ms. Lynn's first contemporary is imaginative, breezy and highly entertaining.

Denise Lynn once again has crafted an absolutely astonishing, unexpected story and conclusion that will thrill every reader rooting for Braeden and Alexia's healing reunion and insatiably curious about the outcome of the battle for the Druidic elder spells.

Dragon's Lair is the best of all Denise Lynn's terrific novels!

Denise Lynn is an outstanding historical writer, and her first undertaking into the paranormal world is absolutely superb. The characters are well-portrayed as their true natures are revealed by their actions and thoughts, plus the storyline is totally entrancing all through the book from the vivid descriptions. DRAGON’S LAIR is compellingly engaging from the start, and the determination of each individual comes through clearly. There will be times when your heart will be pounding from the threatening danger and other scenes when it will be breaking for the palpable emotional pain felt by Braeden and Alexia. This extraordinary couple is one with whom I quickly developed a deep connection, as the outcome of what the future held for them became most important to me. Whether the sentiments between them are sexual or only pertaining to matters of the heart, the scene is always packed with convincing realism from their lifelike reactions. Their confusion as to the way their feelings swiftly change from lusty desire to extreme dislike is excellently shown, as their overwhelming yearning or wary anxiety seems so genuine. Even though Braeden and Alexia seem like normal people on the surface, the supernatural elements surrounding them are cleverly depicted through believable and frequently chilling events. The evil druid and his manipulations to reach his malevolence goal are frighteningly unnerving, and had me wanting him to receive his just reward. There is a hint about future books at the end of the story, and they are definitely ones which I am most anxious to read. DRAGON’S LAIR is a notable romantic tale of the supernatural, filled with distinctive characters and an innovative plot.

Enchantingly imaginative with a spellbinding premise and unforgettable characters, DRAGON’S LAIR enthralls during every riveting moment.

Pursued by men wanting her to translate an ancient manuscript, Alixia Reve-Drake runs to her estranged husband, Braeden, for protection. Together they must stop an ancient wizard determined to take power from the manuscript and kill both husband and wife. Novel and engaging, Lynn's excellent story combines realism and fantasy. Strong characters and complex problems make this book impossible to put down.

Alexia Reve-Drake is forced to run to her estranged husband for protection. Alexia left her husband years ago after the loss of their child. She has not heard a word from him since then. Now she is forced back to him. When she got to work that morning she found a package on her desk. Inside were pages that belong to a book that has been locked away in her husbands safe. But when sher leaves work someone sends men to try and kidnap her, she gets away from the men, but when she pulls up to her home it blows up. Now she has no choice but to return to her husband. Braeden Drake is a druid and head of the family; he also is the keeper of the Dragonierre's Manual. It is a druidic grimoire that no one knows for sure if it is real or not. Now that Alexia is back in his life, Braeden finds that even though he is still angry with her he still loves her. He never understood why she left him. He knows who is after the book. Nathan The Learned has been after the book since 1172. He believes that he should have been named as the ruler of the Isle of Mirabilus. Now Braeden and Alexia must come to terms with what drove them apart in the first place. They must learn to trust in each other, while they race to translate the manual. They must also fight off attacks by Nathan and his men.

Ms Lynn has put together a fast-paced sexy tale of two wounded hearts trying to find trust in each other. This book was great from start to finish and will grace my keeper shelf.
